Appetite - Camilla Basham

She ate it all up, salmon, cheese, caviar, apple tart and the flattery he dished out through his perfectly chiseled square jaw. It straddled his neck like a math equation. She was never good at math, but for him she’d make an exception. If she looked straight ahead she came face to face with his collarbone. She focused and tilted her head slowly upward until she meet his eyes. Try as hard as she may to focus on his baby blues when he spoke, her vision slipped down to his lips, full and pink. When he smiled, oh shit, dimples! He went on about health care reform.

She crammed a chocolate covered strawberry in her mouth, let the coating melt against her tongue, swirled the pulp around her palette and swallowed, eyes closed.

Without looking her hand reached for the nearest stemware, she raised it to her mouth: a nice Cab – must have at least a 95 rating in Wine Spectator, she thought to herself. If she could pour him in her glass he’d rate 100. She was starting to find health care reform sexy. God help her.
