Gifted - Jennifer Baljko

It wasn’t the words he used. He had the vocabulary of a high school dropout who spent too much time taking too many drags on whatever was being passed around. It was the way he said the words that he used that won over all the lonely hearts. He had a gift for spinning a web. Always with a coy superhero smile, his head cocked, wavy chestnut locks brushing his honey-colored eyes. There was dangerous man behind those eyes. A devil that would whisper in your ear while taking a blade to throat. Only one woman saw that flicker of evil. She saw it only once.

  1. This is one of my favorite things of yours. You create a fascinating character, letting his description seduce us, bring us in, in much the same way the character would seduce a woman. Then danger, when it comes, is both a revelation and not unexpected.

  2. I had the pleasure of being your partner the week you wrote this and I remember this character's description vividly. I can see him with his "superhero smile, his head cocked, wavy chestnut locks brushing his honey-colored eyes." How could you not be drawn to this man, then, POW - blade to the throat. Fabulous!
