I Prayed For It - Donna Shomer

Prayer – like a conduit
or like a vessel?
I can’t figure it out
but to pray ‘for’ something?
I want to argue that
I want to say that prayer is like
gates, or pools,
open, closed, submerged, emerged
or locked out with no attendant in sight
but if I thought I could pray for something
If I could stand at the counter
of that particular candy store
it would be real tough to choose.

  1. Another wonderful poem from you! The line 'If I could stand at the counter of that particular candy store' is just brilliant!
