The Hospital - Donna Shomer

So what is it that we expect?
Because the walls are white
or light green
or some other pastel
every time.
There is always
a woman from another country
dozing off
behind the computer
or at the bedside
and they serve
French fries or white bread
or something else
that is at direct odds
with your cardiovascular health.

  1. Another wonderful poem! I really look forward to these. Pastel walls, French fries and white bread, and the dozing woman from another country all perfectly evoke the scene and the mood. Fabulous job!

  2. I love the tone in this. How you can get such an intricate story into such a small space is amazing to me.
